At this point I went digging for sources and I wanted to pull out Andre Martinet and De Saussure, but those are from a very particular school of linguistics that not everybody subscribes to. While I want to avoid over commiting myself, it is helpful for me to have this glossary here as I work on the articles. Again, peer review is necessary.
