Perhaps "a downside of this method" is a slightly biased wording — many either don't see an ambiguity or don't see a problem with it. Perhaps "this sort of sentence is potentially ambiguous, since the word could either be a modifier or a predicate." Perhaps "a downside of this method" is a slightly biased wording — many either don't see an ambiguity or don't see a problem with it.
