I am just a simple male person that speaks English, a bit of Spanish, and very good at Toki Pona.

It's confirmed "y" is pronounced like a consonant with the qualities: voiced, alveolar, and being a fricative. I know this because jan Sonja said in November 2019 y is pronounced [ð]. In April 2024, she said to tokiponize [ɬ] (Bad font? It's the voiced lateral alveolar fricative.) as y. Both are fricatives, alveolar, and voiced.
