==Etymology==

The word {{tp|kijetesantakalu}} is derived from {{lang|fi|[[wikt:kierteishäntäkarhu|kierteishäntäkarhu]]}} meaning "kinkajou", from {{lang|fi|[[wikt:kierteinen|kierteinen]]}} ("helical"), {{lang|fi|[[wikt:häntä|häntä]]}} ("tail"), and {{lang|fi|[[wikt:karhu|karhu]]}} ("bear").

{{tp|kijetesantakalu}} was originally defined by Lang as "any animal from the Procyonidae family, such as {{wp|raccoon}}s, {{wp|coati}}s, {{wp|kinkajou}}s, {{wp|olingo}}s, {{wp|ringtail}}s and {{wp|cacomistle}}s".<ref>Lang, Sonja (1 April 2009). {{tp|kijetesantakalu}} was originally a joke word. The word is now used for other reasons as well, be it as a symbol of identity or simply liking the {{tp|sitelen pona}} glyph.
