The phrase o moku e kala pona originates from a 2019 Toki Pona meetup in Dallas, Texas, where jan Sonja inscribed and signed a copy of the book en belonging to jan Maliku with the following message:

The event took place in a sushi restaurant, as such jan Sonja was likely wishing jan Maliku to enjoy his food. Later, in a voice chat in the ma pona community, it was proposed that the phrase and an abbreviated form could be used as a farewell.

sitelen pona
A proposed sitelen pona glyph for omekapo (omekapo) is derived from the glyph for kala (kala) with emitters. It was designed by nimi Elemenopi in July 2020. He also proposed an alternative design based on the combined glyph for kala pona, representing the mouth wrapping properly around the front of the fish so that only half of the curve is visible. In the proposals, both glyphs were drawn facing left, but they are usually drawn facing right instead.
