The original name {{tp|sitelenfor sitelen}} (meaning "drawingthe writing, writing made out of drawings") was suggested by {{tok|jan Kipo}} (John Clifford), as a way to refer to pictograms and hieroglyphs. This is nowadays the most common way to refer to the script.
