Contractions of Toki Pona phrases have been proposed and sometimes used among certain communities. These include:

• -ala or -la as a productive suffix for ala
  For example, sonala for sona ala
• sinale, a contraction of sina ale, equivalent in construction to English "y'all"
• ten'ni, a jans contraction of tenpo ni, using the abbreviation ten
