why is there an article about the internation phonetic alphabet on this wiki? Wikipedia already has a better article on it, and there's also the articles for phonology and phonotactics which explain it for Toki Pona. SnpoSuwan (talk) 10:42, 7 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It seems useful to have a brief local explanation of the notation and how it relates to Toki Pona and sitelen Lasina. While we could soft redirect to Wikipedia, not sure if that'd be a better experience for readers. Menasewi (talk) 21:56, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Wikipedia has some pages to help with it, if you do want a page explaining the basics, you could maybe have it in the bottom. my problem with this article here is that it tries to have the entire table and things as such. beginners would have to learn what those are anyway, so it's more useful to redirect them to where they can actually learn it, from a source that alrady has a lot of coverage. I agree completely- this page in its current form is too technical for someone who doesn't know what the IPA is/doesn't have a background in linguistics. This is despite its goal of teaching you what the IPA is.
Everything before the toki pona chart could be a useful article with some tweaks- but the rest is no more helpful than a link the the Wikipedia page, in my opinion. Mimuki (talk) 09:05, 21 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Return to "International Phonetic Alphabet" page.
