The word jami is derived from English yummy. It was coined in 2017. According to Linku, the coiner is unknown.

The semantic space of jami includes things that are tasty, or that otherwise elicit a positive sensory experience. It may be used as an interjection. Linku compares jami to the words suwi and pilin.
sitelen pona Edit
The word jami is not often used in sitelen pona. A proposed glyph (jami)[by whom? when?] is based on the glyph for suwi (suwi) but with an open smiling mouth as in dotless uta (uta2), combining the emoticons ^.^ and :D. In practice, it is unknown whether this glyph sees significant use.
