isipin epiku
isipin epiku is a humorous style of Toki Pona in which no pu words may be used. The term was coined in 2022 by jan Kita.[1] The name comes from a replacement of the words in "toki pona" with their closest non-pu equivalents, isipin (here "thought") and epiku ("epic").
Phrasing[edit | edit source]
Some words can be easily replaced with direct synonyms, e.g. ona with its predecessor iki or tenpo with the abbreviation ten. Particles are harder to replace, which makes constructing sentences difficult. li can be swapped out for the toki ma word le[2], the question particle su[3], the relative clause marker ki, or obviated with the kisiwi pronoun system. la can be replaced with alu, as can prepositions and e in some cases.[4]
