lipu pona (good article) is a label of recognition for thorough, well-written articles. An article is a content page in the main namespace, so redirects and userspace essays do not qualify. The main page features a blurb from a random lipu pona.
Criteria edit
These criteria are based in part on Wikipedia's good article criteria.
- Completeness: The article is complete within reason. It covers all relevant topics. It has a reasonable level of detail. No maintenance templates are applicable or used.
- Writing: The article is well-written in standard language. It is reasonably focused and understandable. It is helpful in explaining the topic to learners.
- Formatting: The layout and formatting of a standard wiki article are used. Markup and templates are used according to the formatting guide. The article follows web accessibility guidelines.
- Attribution: The article uses any applicable copyright template. Sources are cited, or attributed by linking to an article on the source (for example, descriptions of Toki Pona: The Language of Good can link to its article, although a citation with page numbers is preferred).
- Accuracy: The article reflects community consensus. Descriptions of specific styles of Toki Pona use the appropriate template.
- Illustration: The article uses media where feasible. Media thumbnails are captioned.

- ASCII
ASCII is a character encoding standard that features 95 printable characters, limited to the basic Latin alphabet and symbols on the United States keyboard layout. This character set is the basis of several Toki Pona projects, due to its availability compared to specialized keyboards and input methods.
- Nineteen Eighty-Four
Nineteen Eighty-Four is a dystopian novel by George Orwell. In the book, a totalitarian surveillance superstate enforces Newspeak, a simplified controlled language with a limited vocabulary, to suppress free and critical thinking. Hasty comparisons to Nineteen Eighty-Four are very common, to the point that an obscure nimi sin, owe, has been coined to joke about it.
- Three-vowel system
A three-vowel system has recurrently been proposed for Toki Pona since the language's inception. Proposals generally keep the most extreme vowels /a i u/ to maximize the contrast between them. They may also give each vowel a different height, such as /a i o/.

Toki Pona: The Language of Good (lipu pu) is the foundational resource of modern Toki Pona. It was written by Sonja Lang, finalizing her work on Toki Pona and recording her style of speaking the language at the time. The book was originally published in English in 2014, with several language editions since.
- kijetesantakalu
kijetesantakalu (kijetesantakalu) is a common pre-pu word and nimi ku suli describing raccoons and other procyonid animals. It was coined by Sonja Lang as an April Fools' joke in 2009. It is by far the longest Toki Pona word currently in use.
- lon
lon (lon) is a core preposition and content word that encompasses location, existence, and truth, all treated as aspects of the same broad concept.
- sitelen pona
sitelen pona (sitelen-pona) is a logographic writing system for Toki Pona designed by Sonja Lang, the creator of the language. It is the most commonly used original writing system in Toki Pona, and the second-most after sitelen Lasina (the Latin script). Learners might find sitelen pona useful for memorizing words' meanings.
- tonsi
tonsi (tonsi) is a common content word and nimi ku suli mainly relating to non-binary gender. It is coordinate with meli for femininity and mije for masculinity.
- yupekosi
yupekosi (yupekosi) is a post-pu content word relating to changing a creative work and unintentionally making it worse. It is a self-referential joke word. jan Sonja coined it several years after Toki Pona: The Language of Good, it has a highly specific definition, and it contains an accidental nonstandard letter y, with no official pronunciation. Thus, it retroactively worsens Toki Pona's vocabulary, spelling system, and phonology.
