nasin pi sitelen jelo (๐Ÿ›ค๏ธ๐Ÿ“Ž๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ‹) or, simply, sitelen jelo is an emoji-based writing system created by waso Keli. It is a logography that builds on and tries to improve on sitelen pilin, its much more static predecessor.[1]

As of 23 March 2024, Ajemi can be toggled to input sitelen jelo by pressing Ctrl + โ‡ง Shift + 1.[2]

Guidelines[edit | edit source]

Similar to other logographic writing systems for Toki Pona, nasin pi sitelen jelo simply replaces each word with a symbol, taking advantage of the visual forms in the emoji Unicode range. Additional rules are:[citation needed]

  • Alternate emoji are allowed. However, avoid those that can mean two things.
  • More specific emoji are also allowed. For example, when talking about an octopus, you can use ๐Ÿ™ instead of ๐ŸŸ.
  • Using misleading emoji on purpose is allowed. For example, when talking about a reptile, you can use ๐Ÿธ.

Names are formed like in sitelen pona, by spelling out each letter with a symbol glyph that begins by the letter. The paintbrush emoji (๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ) is used and is placed at the start and end of the name:
