Confusion

The dictionary in pu defines unpa as "to have sexual or marital relations with". The phrasing of this definition has led some people to believe that unpa has to do with marriage. However, this is not the case. To "have marital relations" is a euphemism for having sex (usually specifically with a marital partner). The word unpa generally has to do with sexual intercourse only.

The sitelen sitelen glyph for unpa is a mirror image of one of the sitelen pona glyphs for taki, an unrelated rare nimi ku lili.
