melome and mijomi are obscure nimi sin for gay romantic or sexual orientations, respectively sapphic (lesbian) and achillean (gay man).
Etymology[edit | edit source]
The words melome and mijomi were coined by jan inwin in 2017 and are derived from shortening the phrases meli pi olin meli ("women-loving woman") and mije pi olin mije ("men-loving man").[citation needed]
sitelen pona[edit | edit source]
The sitelen pona glyphs for melome (melome) and mijomi (mijomi) are derive from the glyphs for meli and mije, respectively, with the head radical being replaced with the glyph for olin. In melome, the radical for olin is inverted upside-down to avoid confusion with nena olin.
