sutopatikuna is an obscure pre-pu joke word with marginal phonology relating to platypuses (Ornithorhynchus anatinus).[1]
Etymology
The word sutopatikuna is derived from Croatian čudnovati kljunaš, literally meaning "strange beak". It was coined by Alexandre Baudry as an April Fools' joke in 2009, the same day as the word kijetesantakalu was coined.[1]
Pronunciation
The word sutopatikuna breaks Toki Pona's phonotactics by having the disallowed syllable *ti. Some speakers instead pronounce it with the syllable si to overcome this.[2]
