kuntu is an acronym derived from the phrase kalama musi tan uta and was coined by jan inwin, jan Maliku, and jan Wesu.[1]

The word kuntu is not often used in sitelen pona. A proposed glyph (kuntu)[by whom? when?] is the kalama glyph (kalama) turned upside-down. In practice, it is unknown whether this glyph sees significant use.
